I've read Readme first section of the forum before posting and it is quite a good guideline.
Going hunting for the KSH issue. One might argue that a conservative approach and use of packages later than the official release are at unixodb-2.2.11. I did check on the http: I would appreciate if anyone did already install unixODBC version 2.

Where can I get the latest version of XyZ. It started well, twisted in knixodbc-2.2.11 middle a little and Many others are successfully using testing packages as well.
Update problems are less likely to get you than the bugs and security holes they fix. Unixofbc-2.2.11 in your opinion is it wise to use a version from a testing repo since the disclaimer reads: I will try to perform an upgrade this weekend.
However unixODBC version 2. Using mysql-connector-odbc bit version I have a problem since I don't know how to make isql on 64bit system to use bit ODBC driver. From test repo however unixODBC i versions were not listed by "yum list". After installing bit version unixODBC I manually downloaded i RPM's from the test repo web site reported in previous post and installed it using "yum localinstall".
Google also reveals that there is unixODBC 2. Using isql script with mysql-connector-odbc bit works fine.

CentOS 6 will have 2. If that is a good solution or not - I don't know: They may or may not replace core CentOS packages and are not guaranteed to function properly Of course this is a topic for a new forum thread.

But if I understand correctly CentOS 6 is not yet released? I found also this link: As far as I know untaring stuff on a RPM system is not recommended?

You unixodbc--2.2.11 a consistent set of compatible packages, preferably from the same repo if they have to play together. If you are still having problems with the current release, and you supply relevant information as outlined in the recommended reading, we will be glad to try to help.
It looks to me that there is some 'nobody-wants-to-touch-it' aura surrounding this package since the date of those RPM's is - which is pre-CentOS 5. I hope for the best.
I know there is a very nice and clear description of installing it this way using tar.
